I would like to change the iPhone market from a model of outsourced sweatshops to assembly of components built by highly respected developers. Here is how.
I need a BlueTooth framework for my keyboard. I have developed a standalone Keyboard App with big keys. ibetatest.com/iphone/controllers/apps/?appId=333 I am so close to making it the first external keyboard for the iPhone. Think screen on your iPhone, keyboard on the iTouch. What I need is the peer-to-peer framework, and then put my keyboard objects inside of your framework. You supply the BlueTooth Framework, I supply the keyboard objects.
Your software should be able to run on two iPhone devices. If they are the only devices running that app they connect to each other. If there are other devices running the same app, each gets a pop up screen saying choose which device to connect to. And the peer identity is stored for future use.
Once the devices are connected, one becomes the monitor, one becomes the keyboard. The keyboard has a key to switch which is the monitor, and which is the keyboard.
My exiting app consists of a MainViewController. It has a view, and that view has two subviews. One is a full screen text editor. The other is a full-screen keyboard. The keyboard can be full screen for the peer-to-peer keyboard, or for the stand alone app, it is a little smaller and has a line of text visible. For the stand alone version, the keyboard can be hidden to show and scroll the full text view.
I need to make a few small changes in my app to make this work. I need to partition my app. I need to create a proxy object for the TextEditor. Messages from the keyboard get sent to the proxy object, and get forwarded reliably to the text editor. You get the idea. The plan is to negotiate a detailed spec about the interfaces. The dream is to just merge the two code bases and have it work the first time we link.
Can you do this for me? Do you have such a framework/App in place? Both because I need the software, and because I want to show the world a different business model for building iPhone Apps.
In the worst case, I would be happy to contract with someone to build such a Framework but then my time to market is bigger, which misses the point of the exercise.
And of course if anyone has the HID libraries or the libraries to make the iPhone simulator speak BlueTooth, that would be fantastic! It would be just brilliant to bring together multiple suppliers to make this all work in little time.
